CHESS: The Game

 chess, chess game

Chess is a board game and it is played between two opponents on an opposite side of the board. The game is played on a chessboard. It is designed in a way that it contains sixty four squares of alternating color: black and white. Every player has sixteen pieces to manage: a king, a queen, two knights, two rooks, two bishops, and eight pawns. Both players play the game with the objective to checkmate each other’s king.

At the launch of the game the chessboard is laid out so that each player has the white color square in the bottom right-hand side. The second row rank is full with pawns. The rooks set out in the corners, after that then the knights, afterward the bishops, and finally the queen, who always goes on her own matching color and the king on the remaining square. The chess pieces are then set the same way each game. According to the rules of the chess white pieces have to move first. White then makes a move followed by the black then white and it carry on the same way until the game end.

Each of six different pieces have its own style of moving. Pieces can not move through other pieces, although it is possible for knight to jump over the other piece. They cannot move onto squares. However they can capture the place of the other opponent .The king is the key piece and in the same time it is one of the weakest. It can move one square in any direction throughout the chess board. The queen is the most dominant piece in the whole Chess game. It can move in any direction –forward, backward, sideways and diagonally. She has also an ability to move as long as achievable as far as possible, but she can not take place her own piece.

The rook has ability to move as long as it wants but it can only move backward, forward, and on sides. It can be graded as the second potential piece in the whole chess game. The bishop can move as far as it can but only in diagonals. Each bishop starts on one color and must stay in that color. Bishops can cover up their weakness if they work together. The knight move is just like the shape of “L” and it move so differently then other pieces in the whole chess. Knight has an ability to move over the other player pieces. The pawns are different in many ways; they move forward but capture the opponent piece diagonally. One a very first turn the pawn can move into two forward squares but later on in the whole game it move only one square in forward direction. They can never move or capture backwards.

The other rule in the chess game is castling. In the whole one move a player can do two important things in order to save the king. First move the king to a safe place in the chessboard and second to take rook out of the corner and into the game. As acknowledged before, the purpose of this game is to checkmate the opponent’s king. This only occurs when the king is set into check and cannot get out of check. There are only three ways to safe the king from check; to shift out of the way, chunk the check with another piece, or arrest the piece threatening the king. If three conditions does not apply to escape checkmate in any case then game is over.
